Baby Beets

Chrysanthemum Greens, generally use in hotpot, soup, and stir fry, but I like it for cold side dishes.
This round leaf variety is much milder in taste than the smaller serrated leaf chrysanthemum.

Baby Garlic and Lettuce
Back in late January I planted some garlic for the purpose
of harvesting green garlic for grilling, stir fry, and pickle.
I've been pulling them as needed but they never made it to photo opts.
I'll post some pictures later to show you how I use green garlic and chrysanthemum greens.
Drop by Daphne's Dandelions host of Harvest Monday to see more garden harvests around the globe.

I've grown the edible mum before, but didn't really care for it. Maybe it was the wrong kind; been a few years so I don't remember what it looked like. I have to remember to plant lots of garlic this fall!
I love the colorful selection of beets!
Mary,
There are several varieties of edible mum, the round big leaf one is the mildest, it almost like eating spinach, I don't care for the angular serrated leaf variety, it's too strong of taste for me.
Allison,
Thank you.
Looking forward to learning how you use your green garlic.
Nice variety of beets.
Those baby beets are stunning!
Norma,
Thanks, stay tuned.
pooks,
Thank you.
I really ought to plant garlic for green garlic too. I never do though. I should because right now my garlic is sprouting and green garlic would probably be better.
I love garlic at that baby garlic stage - just delicious. Really looking forward to seeing how you use your green garlic.
Very healthy nice harvest this week!
I tried growing the edible mums greens about a year or so ago and they did not survive (not sure why really) so I never got to actually try them to see if I liked the taste. I may have to try again if I still have the seeds floating around somewhere.
Beautiful harvests this week.
Daphne,
Last year I had too many storage garlic, this year I grow 1/2 for storage and 1/2 for baby green garlic.
Liz,
I have to remember to post the photos for the dish I made with baby garlics, I keep forgeting, I'll try to link it to Robins's kitchen tomorrow.
ML girl,
Thanks.
kitsapFG,
Chrysanthemum likes it cool but not cold and wet. I have some extra seeds let me know if you want to play with it.
