Disaster Struck

The female rufous hummingbird was last seen protecting her eggs during heavy rain and high winds, unfortunately the nest was knocked off and fell to the ground, she lost one of the two eggs. WM repaired the damage and put the nest back to its original position but the bird decided to abandon the nest and the remaining egg, sad.

  1. How sad. I sued to have a pair of robins who just couldn't build a nest that could stay in a tree. It was always blowing down from some high branch. But robins are known for making bad nests.

  2. Oh that is sad. :(

I hope it is early enough in the season for a fast restart and the laying of a new clutch of eggs.
