Napa Cabbage

Radish and Daikon

The cabbages weighted in at 3.0 lb and 3.50 lb after trimming.
I used one napa and three daikons for last night's hot pot dinner (similar to fondue).

Hello Mac,
Lovely harvest. Never grew the short daikon, must add that to my seed list. What is the variety you plant and where do you get your Asian vegetable seeds?
Wow those are nice looking Napas!
Your cabbages are so perfect! The ones I have left in the garden aren't looking as good, I need to harvest them and hope that they will keep in the fridge for a while.
Norma,
I found short daikon is easier to grow than the long variety. Majority of my Asian vegetable seeds came from local Asian markets or from San Francisco Chinatown, sometimes I buy from kitazawaseed[dot]com, occasionally fellow bloggers sent seeds.
Mary,
Thank you.
michelle,
Napa will keep in the frig for long time.
Beautiful harvest! We just had hot pot as well, with lots of napa cabbage, unfortunately not home grown.
Nartya,
Yay~~hot pot is so easy for fall and winter seasons, we do it quite often in our house, I'm a lazy cook!
You always have the most lovely looking veg. I enjoyed the link to hot pot - looks like a fun way to eat.
I must say, if there was a beauty contest for napa cabbages - your garden would produce the winners every time! You grow such beautiful specimens. Not a bit of slug damage to be seen. Amazing!
Beautiful. I so love hot pots. We have a hot pot restaurant just a few blocks away. Usually I order the boc choy as a veggie, but I've been getting so much of it in my garden I just couldn't last time I was there.
Love the hot pot dinner. Have always wanted to try one. Used to do oil fondue a lot. Nice harvest also.
very nice cabbages! Bet they were yummy!
Liz,
Thanks, it's easy and fun to do hot pot meals.
kitsapFG,
Thanks, I luck out so far so good, no slugs and snails, but lots of cabbage worms.
Daphne,
It's nice to have some independent restaurants in the neighborhood.
wilderness,
Try it, you might like it.
Shawn Ann,
Yup, the cabbages are very sweet this time of year.
I've never even tried daikon before. It looks yummy. Great looking harvest. :)

Urban Garden,
Thanks for stopping by. Daikon is a winter radish, it tastes like radish but much bigger than regular salad variety. It can be in salads, soups, stews, pickles, or stir frys, it's a pretty versatile vegetable.
