有沒攪錯啊 Just Kidding?


近來試用一種意大利護髮conditioner, 一向不看 usage direction 的,今天有點無聊就拿來看看,笑死了,不過同樣的笑話也時常出現於中譯英用品或食品.


I'm trying out an Italian shampoo and conditioner, here's what the label says:
Conditioner~~~~blah, blah, blah~~~~"apply on cleaned and dump hair; Comb through, massageandletitrestfor5min. Rinseaccuratelyandtoweldry. Avoidoverdosing."
No kidding, I am not making this up, this is exactly what is printed on the label; go figure!

OK, I think I get it, I'll make sure to "dump" my cleaned hair, and try very hard not to "overdose" on this darn cream.

豆漿油餅 Soy Milk and Sopapilla



早餐消夜來囉~~~~~~

老墨的sopapilla就是中國的油餅,麵團做法一樣,這些小油餅是用sopapilla mix做的,不用量來量去,簡單方便。口味當然比不上烤母老麵做的好吃,不過饞起來又沒空的話,這懶人油餅還是不錯的。

Will the sole surviving mini rose make it to maturity? Maybe, I hope so.
I have some more seeds in the refrigerator, hopefully they will do better for me once they are stratified.




Chrysanthemum Greens (Shungiku)


這是十天前摘的照片, 前天又摘一次,小茼蒿好嫩,用熱鹽水燙一下便可。

This picture was taken a week ago; it was the second harvest of spring sow, a third harvest was cut 2 days ago; some plants are showing signs of maturity with flower buds forming; I snipped the buds off hopefully it would help the plants to stay green longer. Our daytime temperature is getting warmer everyday, it would be interesting to see how long the greens can keep up with the hot dry weather.

這些冬瓜苗已經有5-6片葉了,預備周末就種入田裏,現在種什麼呢?

死兔子!死鳥兒!會吃啊,其他的不捻偏吃難種的。

冬瓜長的慢,育苗差不多要兩個月,從移植到收割最少120天,今年冬瓜沒啥希望了,玩毛瓜吧。

窗外的熱氣球 Backyard Hot Air Balloons

只要天氣好風穩定,家里窗外常見熱氣球飄過。飛得低時還可以看見籃裏的人呢。

On a clear day we can see hot air balloons flying by the house, sometimes they fly so low you can see people inside the gondola.

再認一次九層塔 ID These Basils


Sweet Basil---美國最常見的意大利種九層塔。

Thai Basil---泰國紫骨九層塔,普通亞洲市場有賣。

Korean Perilla---韓國大葉紫蘇,好象韓國店才有。其他亞洲市場不常見。

左上那些種苗忘記 lable, 攪不清楚是紫蘇或是九層塔,等大海來@@

Dandelion 薺菜﹖蒲公英﹖

請問這是薺菜嗎﹖豬道dandelion=蒲公英; 可是這個葉有點像你show薺菜那個樣子。I am confused! 不管是不是,該怎樣處理呢?沒吃過,看見新鮮的就買回來玩。

請問其他朋友吃過這種菜嗎?除了做沙拉,中菜是怎麼用呢?

帶子沙拉 Grilled Scallop Garden Salad


1 lb scallops(帶子)
Salad greens(小生菜)
Snow pea shoots(豆苗)
Snow pea pods(荷蘭豆)
Mix olives & capers(各種鹹橄覽甜椒)
Newman's Low Fat Sesame Ginger Salad Dressing(沙拉醬)

Marinade scallops for about 20 minutes in 2 tbsp mirin (cooking sweet rice wine); and 1 1/2 tbsp Ponzu (citrus vinegar). Heat grill until hot, sear and grill until the scallops are done; do not overcooked.

Lightly toss vegetables in salad dressing and top with grilled scallops.

帶子醃20分鐘 (2 tbsp日本甜糯米酒; 1 1/2 tbsp 日本桔醋) 大火煎熟便可。

Basils 九層塔


從左至右﹕

Holy Basil--kra paw, 泰國種嘎拋 ?

Thai Basil--泰國種紫骨九層塔

Genovese
Sweet Basil--意大利種九層塔


這些都是同時點種,白天日光浴,晚上睡greenhouse,沒用heating mat。

意大利種最早發芽,比較耐寒,長得最快。

泰國紫骨種比較慢發芽,可以接受多少寒 氣。

嘎拋發芽最晚,不能接受寒涼氣候,可是天氣熱起來它跑得很快。

Paging Tahai: 我的嘎拋葉不像你種的那種,why? 去年舊家有你種的那種,可是。。說不像,why? I am confused! Maybe these are Korean mint? The leaf underside is purple; I might have gotten the seeds and labels mix up (thaaaaat's meeeeee!)

The "basil" on the left is Korean Green Perilla, not Holy Basil; I will post another picture to show the difference later.

Chrysanthemum Greens and Cilantro


茼蒿芫荽喜歡冷氣候,可以冬天或春天播種,冬播冬眠,雪溶後就會探出頭來晒太陽了。這兩種菜容易種,蟲蟲不喜歡那種菜味,只要有陽光,水,營養便可。

茼蒿過多可以讓它老化開花,小菊花蠻漂亮的,乾菊花可以混些乾玫瑰花桔子皮之類泡茶,香味不錯。

根根,根根,我有芫荽根 (Cilantro with Roots)






去年冬天丟下芫荽的種子早就忘了,後來幾個月忙搬家和整理新屋,後園根本不會看,冬天嘛,光溜溜的有啥好看,當然也沒想到要澆水施肥什麼的。嘿嘿,這些小鬼居然掙氣的長給我看噢。前兩天去拔回來。呵呵,終于可以玩大海芫茜椒蒜系列的食譜了。

以前一直沒做就是怕白忙,味道不對,現在去挖食譜研究研究,過兩天show show給大家看蛤。
